One of the key areas for our AST Business in South Africa is the irradiation of imported honey to comply with local legislation.

Special forklift attachments were manufactured to enable the safe handling of the 300kg drums, in which the product arrives.  The attachments are used to off-load the shipping containers, to load and unload for processing and then to load the processed product onto the Customer’s collection vehicles.

Synergy provides a complete service to the Customers involved, including batch and invoice reconciliation as well as liaison with the relevant Government Departments to ensure speedy testing and release by local authorities.

Last year the facility processed over 1 000 tons of imported honey, and next year could see this figure increase even further.

Like the feisty Honey Badger, when presented with this unique set of requirements, the South African team rose to the challenge and, through innovation, have provided the Customers concerned with a solution which meets their expectations and ensures the continued success of their businesses.
