Synergy Health has launched a new superabsorbent foam dressing, ComfiHeal™ to the Comfi™ range of woundcare solutions.

ComfiHeal™ is clinically proven to provide superior performance, supporting the wound healing process and helping to improve the quality of life for the patient.

ComfiHeal™ is a simple, safe and effective superabsorbent foam dressing with a silicone adhesive border developed for the management of moderately exuding wounds.  The foam dressing features a unique superabsorbent layer which absorbs and retains exudate, removing it from the wound bed and surrounding skin.  This superabsorbent layer increases lateral wicking into the polyurethane (PU) foam helping to minimise the risk of maceration in both the wound bed and peri-wound area.  The PU foam then disperses fluid across the dressing to maximise absorption and enables vapour transfer.

In-vitro tests demonstrate that ComfiHeal™ offers superior performance with up to 37% higher absorption capacity compared to other foam dressings on the market.  Early indications from clinical trials are positive with patients responding well to the dressing and their wounds improving.

Rachel Houghton, senior product manager for the Woundcare Division said: ‘ComfiHeal™ has been developed with healthcare professionals and patients in mind to provide the optimum wound healing environment whilst offering comfort and security.  This new foam dressing will provide tissue viability nurses with a new cost-effective foam dressing in the treatment of complex wounds.’
