Trakstar Track and Trace Scanner

At the start of November Synergy Health introduced the new version of TrakStar, the system responsible for tracking and tracing the 80 million instruments processed by Synergy Health each year. TrakStar has been in use since 1997 and is installed in all of Synergy’s sterile service facilities in the UK, Europe and China. The TrakStar system has evolved over the years to its current level of functionality, and for it to continue being the industry’s leading system delivering the high performance expected of it an upgraded was required.

The new TrakStar version is completely new and built on the latest tracking technologies, allowing room for our continued growth and innovation. This new version also ensures our systems will remain to be ahead of the competition. Additional features have been introduced such as washer cycle tracking and single instrument tracking, ensuring compliance with the new CFPP guidelines. The system has been “stress tested” to 145 times the current processing volume, making sure TrakStar continues to perform well into the future.

Two years in the making, the new TrakStar was introduced at Synergy Health’s Homerton facility as part of a two week pilot, before being rolled out across all of Synergy’s sterile service units. After Homerton we will roll out two sites each week, which will include on-site training before go-live and dedicated on-site IT support.
