Processing by Gamma radiation covers industrial
applications ranging from the sterilisation of medical devices,
through polymer modification at a molecular level to radiation
testing. A wide variety of healthcare products from implants to
pharmaceuticals employ its sterilising capability, whilst
industrial applications from semiconductors to micro-etching can
benefit from its use.
Isotron has four Gamma sites in the UK, two in the Netherlands
and additional sites in Ireland, Germany, France, Thailand,
Malaysia and South Africa. All of these are optimised for
sterilisation work, as applied to medical devices, labware,
packaging, cosmetics and toiletries, animal husbandry,
horticulture, herbs and spices and hides and trophies. At
Swindon (UK), we also have a small plant that is suited to apply
test irradiation, for example to determine total dose radiation
tolerance of materials and electronic components for the defence
and nuclear sectors or materials effect work for medical
devices.
